Chief Gadzama SAN delivers Paper on Mining Law in Accra, at the African Bar Association (AFBA) 2025 Annual Conference
The revered Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, OFR, Life Bencher, delivered a paper on the theme “Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) in Mining Deals in Africa: A Myth or Achieveable Standard for Indigenous Communities?” on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the African Bar Association Conference, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, in Accra, Ghana.
The Learned Silk, who is also a Life Member of the AFBA Governing Council, was ably represented by Ms. Onyekachi Eluwa, Esq., who while presenting the paper mentioned that: “human beings, individually and as groups, have an equal entitlement to be in control of their own destinies or to shape their own futures, and to live within governing institutional systems that are accordingly designed to reflect this entitlement.”
The session which was intellectually stimulating, had other speakers which included Peter Akper, SAN, Kofi Annan, Eniola Asonuga and Prince Osisiadan and at the end of the session, there were commentaries and questions from participants who were greatly enlightened.
