By Maurice Ebam
Now that the excitement of the NBA Annual Conference has faded, it is time for lawyers, especially young lawyers, to face reality.
Two years of Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, and his executives are gradually coming to an end. Very soon, the cycle of campaigns and elections will begin again.
Too often, those who seek these political offices within the NBA come with sweet words and grand promises and campaign promises. But let’s be honest, many of them do not care about us. What they want is our votes.
Once they secure them, we are tossed aside, forgotten, and reduced to tools that have already served their purpose. The same people who once courted us suddenly become tin gods, untouchable and distant.
Young lawyers, in particular, should be careful about who they throw their support behind.
