As the flagship gathering of our Association, the AGC convened leaders of the Bar and Bench, captains of industry, political leaders, international partners, and civil society to deliberate on the growth of the legal profession and its role in addressing Nigeria’s and Africa’s most pressing challenges.
The Opening Ceremony featured powerful interventions:
• His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, the Sultan of Sokoto, underscored law as the foundation of order, justice, and peace, calling on lawyers to champion reforms and guarantee access to justice for the vulnerable.
• Hon. Julius Malema, MP, Leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), South Africa, delivered the Keynote Address, urging African lawyers to decolonize legal systems, dismantle oppressive structures, and build frameworks rooted in African identity, dignity, and pride.
• His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Governor of Enugu State, declared the Conference open, highlighting the legal profession’s role in stabilizing democracy, strengthening institutions, and guiding national reforms.
With these inspiring addresses, the Conference charted a course for bold dialogue and practical resolutions on justice, governance, and the advancement of our society.
